Aphrodite Oysters are grown in the crisp, clean, saltwater of the Penobscot Bay. My farm is located in the Lower Weskeag River, South Thomaston, Maine. The water is very cold so it takes 3 years for our oysters to grow but this is what gives them their rugged shell and amazing flavor! Taste the best oysters that Maine has to offer!

About Krista Tripp
I grew up in a small town, called Spruce Head Island, off the coast of Maine. I enjoyed lobstering since childhood, ever since I was old enough to bait bags and band lobsters while going stern for my Dad on his lobster boat. I ran my own boat in high school under an apprentice program until I graduated and then I landed other jobs on the ocean, that I took to naturally, while waiting to get my captains license.
I’ve been captaining a 36ft lobster boat, F/V – SHEARWATER, since 2016. I absolutely love lobstering but I thought it would be smart to diversify my income. After volunteering on an oyster farm for a summer I decided to buy the farm in 2018, when the opportunity had presented itself to me. It was originally a “hobby farm” that my high school science teacher had started and enjoyed. Since then I’ve been able to double the farms capacity and I look to expand the farm in the next couple years.
My goal is to create more jobs in our local community and to give students an opportunity to work and learn about aquaculture on the farm. I appreciate your support and thank you for helping me make this come a reality, not only for myself but for our small town here in Mid-Coast Maine.
